The “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” has won a major victory

The “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” is claiming “a major victory” in its bid to uncover the “potential remains of a lost civilisation beneath the rocks and soil of the hill of Visocica”, according to the organisation behind the endeavour:

The organisation has been attempting to win permission to excavate the site, which it believes hides a major pyramidal structure, since 2005 when explorer Dr Semir Osmanagic first proposed his theory that Visocica hill is actually an ancient pyramid, which he named the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun.

In 2007, the “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” prepared an interdisciplinary scientific research project of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun and submitted its papers to the Government in order to request permission to explore the site.

Although the organisation had previously had permission to explore much of the area, this had been revoked when the Ministry of Culture and Sports extended a protected area on the hill, citing concerns that an ancient fort and town sited at the top of Visocica would be damaged by the work being carried out by Osmanagic.

In fact the Ministry of Physical Planning was also prepared to issue a license to the Foundation to give it permission to research the area but their application was subsequently turned down on three separate occasions by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

They claimed that permission for the project could not be given “because the project envisaged measures that threaten cultural property, the planned measures are not of a permanent character and do not provide permanent protection of the archaeological site, and anticipated work would not have provided a professional approach to research.”However, the Foundation stressed that its project meets all the measures designed to protect cultural property in the manner prescribed by law for the protection of cultural heritage.

It also pointed out that those participating in the project design and research team included 47 eminent international scientists and experts. The Foundation went on to request permits for archaeological and supporting research, arguing that it would ensure the conservation and preservation of the historical area of the ‘Old Town Visoki’.

Four years later, on 26th October 2011, the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo issued a final verdict upholding the complainant. Thus, after four years, the Pyramid project finally gets its green light – and the attitude of the Federal Service for Protection of Monuments towards the project has been open to questioning. Osmanagic was delighted with the outcome, saying, “Justice is slow but attainable. It is time to begin to demolish the bureaucratic world of negative attitude towards project.”

Fresh doubts on Bosnian Pyramid claims

There are fresh doubts on the Bosnian Pyramid claims:

“We do not know what to think – well, we do, but do not know yet how to express it without hurting anyone or taking away from any persons’ dream. There will need to be more evidence somewhere to make me believe it is an ancient pyramid, and I will speak little for Schoch, but he feels the same – we have many samples, none of which are showing ancient man made intervention to create a pyramid.” (Dr. Colette M. Dowell ND)

Line of pyramid discovered

Latest news from the Bosnian Pyramid Team, of a line that joins the north and east sides of the pyramid:

“The Foundation currently responsible for exploring the Bosnian Valley of Pyramids at Vosici, which is believed to be home to a number of ancient pyramids, says it has further proof that the largest site, named the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun, is a true pyramid. The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation has found what it believes to be the line that joins the North and East sides of the pyramid. So far the Foundation has uncovered about  6m of the ridge that it says forms the ‘join’ between the two faces of the pyramid.”

Barakat: ‘This is man-made pyramid’

Latest from the Bosnian pyramid team:

The two Egyptian scientists working at the Bosnian pyramids – geologist Barakat and archeologist Lamia El Hadidi – have made some of their findings public prior to completing their work at the site. They conclude that there are ancient man-made structures in the Visocica Hill region.

When he first arrived in Bosnia, geologist Barakat said that Visocica Hill was probably ‘some kind of primitive pyramid’. After more than a month working at the site, his opinion remains unchanged.

Barakat said, “For me, as a scientist and geologist, there’s still no doubt that this is man-made. I think that humans cut, polished, reshaped and formed stone blocks {that form the pyramid), bringing them here and adding them to the existing hill in order to give the shape of a pyramid to the hill.”

Archaeologist El Hadidi added that a large archaeological site has been found on the so-called Pyramid of the Moon, near to the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. She said they were unable, at this stage, to date the site, saying that further research is needed. However, she confirmed earlier conclusions that this site also represents a pyramid. “It is really impossible that nature creates shapes like this. Maybe one, but not three or four sides of the hill as we have here. There is still a lot of work to be done here, if we want to unveil all the secrets of this valley.”

Scepticism about the existence of the pyramids remains within parts of the scientific community. This may be partly because the site in Bosnia does not represent our traditional image of pyramids – as in Egypt – but a different kind of structure where stones have been placed around an existing hill to form the shape of a pyramid.

A complex of manmade tunnels has also been found at the site. It has been suggested that the tunnels may connect the three pyramids. In one of the tunnels, a large polished monolith has been found with unknown carved inscriptions including arrows and a shape similar to our letter ‘E’.

Latest discovery proves pyramid theory?

This has been reported on the Bosnian Pyramid site. So maybe they are right despite criticisms?

“A press conference held earlier today (Sunday) at the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon puts “beyond doubt” the existence of a pyramid at the site, says the Archeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun (APBPS).

“The Pljesevica Hill was previously named the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon by the APBPS Foundation. Experts from the Foundation have now revealed the discovery of a vertical wall that forms part of the Pyramid of The Moon.

“Lamia el-Hadidi (Conservation Specialist, Egypt) assumes that the wall forms part of a tomb belonging to the pyramid. She pointed out that the wall is clearly manmade, comprising blocks that have been cut by man, refined and used to build this vertical wall.

“Prof.Dr.Ric.Geol. Dario Andretta, chairman of the Humanitarian University for the Multidisciplinary International Culture (Rome), announced that this evidence puts beyond doubt the existence of a true pyramid at this site.

“Experts from APBPS expect to have further announcements about the nature of the wall that has been discovered in the next two to three days. Excavations will now continue to take place to the left, right and above the wall. The team has also discovered steps which they say probably lead into the tomb.

“Andretta has also announced that more experts from across Italy will be coming to join Bosnians on the site to be part of largest current international archeological project.

“It is said that the discovery of the entrance at the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon proves beyond doubt that this is a true pyramid.”

UNESCO to join search for pyramids in central Bosnia

News from the Bosnian Pyramid team. (Though if you do a serach for ‘bosnian pyramids’ on the UNESCO website nothing comes up, so take the announcement with a pinch of salt:

“Sarajevo – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will join Bosnian experts in searching for what is believed to be one or more ancient pyramids in central Bosnia, the Bosnian Presidency said Friday in a statement.

“UNESCO director-general Koichiro Matsuura promised to send soon a group of UNESCO archaeological experts to investigate the find.”

Ancient writings inside of the tunnels ?

From the Bosnian pyramid site:

“Foundation in charge of excavations in Bosnias Valley of Pyramids is published interesting image . This image clearly shows inscriptions. Expert  from foundation assumes; this massive block could represent a man and letters on it are representing members of his family. Further analysis will give us more answers to this mysterious writings.”

Er, maybe it’s an early form of grafitti?!

New evidence of ancient civilisation?

“Bosnian writer Ahmed Bosnić has recently returned from the Bosnian River Valley where he visited the village of Ozimicama and found a significant concentration of the stone balls found across Bosnia. He was in the company Dr Aly Abd Barakat , Egyptian geologist (Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority. ), who confirmed that the balls were a manmade rather than natural phenomenon.

“The existence of the balls in this region was not known until an earthquake 12 or 13 years ago revealed them. They vary in size with the largest measuring 1.7m high and with a circumference of 5.3m.

“Theory is that the balls were created at the same time as the pyramids in the Bosnian Valley of Pyramids and that their existence proves an ancient civilisation existed in today’s Bosnia. This location will soon become protected as a National Park and will be recognised as one of the sites of archaeological significance in Bosnia.

“Bosnic also visited Mećevići (Zavidovići) which contains more than 20 of the mysterious stone balls, measuring from a few centimetres’ diameter up to 3m in circumference. The picture shown indicates the size of one of the balls found.”

Egyptian experts back pyramid theory?

Latest news seems to suggest we have a pyramid!

“Leading geologists from Egypt have confirmed that the pyramidal structure discovered near the town of Visocica is indeed a pyramid. Dr Aly Abd Barakat (an expert on Egyptian pyramids) visited two areas of excavation – the north and east faces – at the structure, which is now known as the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. His conclusions about the blocks on the eastern face is that they are of a similar construction to those found in Egyption pyramids – the blocks are handmade and polished; in Egypt, stones were polished to reflect the sunlight. Barakat also believes that the blocks, 4m x 1.5m in size, were brought here from a different location. Some of the blocks in the eastern face of the pyramid have been laid on top of each other, to a depth of four blocks.

“This gives some indication of the massive size of the ancient construction. After studying excavations on the north side of the pyramid, Barakat concludes that the blocks here are handmade and have been created using a mould to form the blocks, which consist of an ancient ‘concrete’-like mix. He also noticed a white line some 0.5cm thick between the blocks, indicating a cement-like substance has been used to adhere the blocks together. A similar method has been seen in the construction of the Egyptian pyramids. Barakat went on to visit another excavation site located at the base of Pljesevica Hill, which is named the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon.

“He concludes that the ‘steps’ that form the sides of this pyramid are made by human hands. Some 20m above this part of the excavations, he noticed a large number of blocks placed symetrically, proving they too are man-made.”
